Short Bio

After receiving her B.F.A. in painting and drawing from Maryland Institute College of Art in 1985 and her M.A.T. in museum education from George Washington University in 1987, Ellie worked 20 plus year in Museums while expanding her reputation as an animal and children portrait artist.

Statement

Ellie is recognized for her outstanding pet and children portraits.  Commendations and certificates of appreciation include recognition from Animal Rescue Organizations, the City of Baltimore and the State of Maryland for her artistic contributions. Recognition and inclusion into the Maryland Women’s Heritage Center exhibit on “Creative Women of Maryland. 

Giving back to the community is an important part Ellie’s commitment to community and donates a portion of all pet portrait commissions to a variety of pet rescue organizations including Fallston Animal Rescue Movement, Harford County Animal Rescue and the Maryland ASPCA.
Currently, she is a member of Harford County Artists Association, Arts by the Bay Gallery, Mid-Atlantic Plein Air Painters Association.

Biography

Currently, she is a member of Harford County Artists Association, Arts by the Bay Gallery, Chesapeake Professional Women’s Network and BPW-MD.

Her commissions include views of the Inner Harbor for Johns Hopkins Bayview’s Mason Lord Building; Mural for Patapsco United Methodist Church, Sanctuary Painting for Zion United Church of Christ, and pastel and oil portraits of many beloved family pet as well as portraits of children and adults. She has received portrait commission from Oslo, Norway to California,
